Pendant track lighting is the latest cool design statement people are making for their homes and office places that require a bit of chic, class or a twist in style.

With track lighting kits being used, you can now have a virtually unlimited number of ways of adding a lighting effect to your space.

Pendant track lighting really is the way forward if you like to keep up with the latest fashion and styles.

You can go ultra-modern or contemporary classic. In fact you can ultimately go for any permutation you can think of. Such is the ability to mix and match to suit your tastes.

It all starts off by using a track. This track is affixed to, or suspended from your ceiling. It can come as a straight length or as a curved track depending on what sort of look you are trying to achieve.

A straight piece of track is suitable for illuminating areas such as a kitchen island unit, or dining table.

A curved track can be placed strategically to illuminate several areas of a room(kitchen, bathroom etc.) with just one track.

The track is typically made from metal or Chrome, but can come in other materials too.

Then we have to look at the pendant lights themselves. Pendant track lighting hangs down from the electrical cord, or chain or any other style to add to the overall effect you are wanting to create.

They can be hung at different lengths such as stepping down from a height to a low point, or can all be hung at the same length.

Picture a light track on the ceiling with six lengths coming down and 6 dome shaped lights casting a wonderful soft glow over a dining room table.

The ambiance is just superb and really adds a sense of class and chic to that room. It’s amazing what you can achieve with a few lights!

Off on another tangent, you can create a brilliant color array by using glass pendants each made from a different colored glass, incorporating shapes and swirls. Each piece of glass can be thin and slender, or wide and bulbous – yet each one creates a warm glow that sets a great mood in the room.

The ultimate question really has to be this. What effect do you want to achieve using your pendant track lighting set up?

If your room has a central focal point then I would suggest you use a straight track, or use a curved track (which come in many different shapes) that allows you to cast light over different areas of a room, such as a desk or specific corner of the room.

Modern track lighting systems really do bring a room to life. A good set up looks exciting and inviting at the same time. It creates a visual feast for your eyes – truly it does. You find yourself looking upwards a lot more, admiring the pendant track lighting and at the same time it makes a good topic of conversation.
